Around 90,000 kids without measles vaccination
20 August 2019
Public Health England are reporting that up to a quarter of young children are not vaccinated against measles in some parts of the country, Public Health England (PHE) has warned, with figures showing that one in seven five-year-olds have not had both MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccines - one in four in London.
In total, this leaves around 90,000 children unprotected as they prepare to start school, and Dr Mary Ramsay, head of immunisation at PHE, said: "It’s crucial that children have maximum protection as they begin to mix with other children at the start of their school journey."
