ONS have published data showing deaths involving COVID-19 across the UK fell for the first time since June.

In the week ending 1 October 2021, the number of deaths from all causes remained above the average for the corresponding week between 2015 and 2019.

Of all deaths registered in that week, 972 involved COVID-19, 138 fewer than the previous week (a 12.4% decrease).

Deaths involving COVID-19 accounted for around 1 in 13 deaths (8.0%).
