Coronavirus (COVID-19) roundup: 28 July 2020

ONS have published the latest deaths registrations in England and Wales, up to 17 July 2020. Some of the main points include:

• There were 51,264 deaths involving COVID-19 registered up to 17 July (28,215 men and 23,049 women)

• The total number of deaths in the week ending 17 July was 8,823, below the five-year average for the fifth consecutive week

• By region, East Midlands and West Midlands were the only areas to see deaths in excess of the five-year average
