Have your say: Wirral Tree Strategy

On the 8 November Wirral Council launched a Tree Strategy consultation for the borough.

Working with partners and stakeholders it has developed a draft 10-year strategy to consider how we manage/respond to the borough’s current trees and the future provision of trees.

If not already, we’d like to encourage you to have your say in the consultation for this strategy to help refine and support its aspirational goals.

The working draft of the new Cool 2 strategy identified developing a tree strategy as an ‘early step’ and this draft Tree strategy, now out for consultation, recognises how tree management may be affected by the climate but also how Wirral’s natural environment and key asset of trees can help us to tackle the global threat.

This strategy further provides an opportunity to develop this asset by establishing a clear vision and outcome in which the council, and others are accountable for maintaining and investing in our trees and woodland as well as identifying areas with low canopy cover to prioritise future planting.

You can have your say on the draft strategy online www.wirral.gov.uk/planning-and-building/tree-preservation/consultation-tree-strategy .

The Consultation will close on 20 December.
