New guide to help councils fight loneliness

A new guide, Reaching Out, has been produced by the Local Government Association and the National Association of Local Councils to provide information for public bodies to help them tackle loneliness.

The guide is being published at the NALC’s annual conference today, and outlines how councils and local organisations can work together to improve individuals’ wellbeing and reduce pressure on council and health services.

LGA chairman James Jamieson commented: “Councils across all tiers are increasingly recognising the added value in reaching out and working together, because it is in our interests to tackle the significant impact of loneliness and other public health challenges.”
