ONS have published new entries on self-employed workers and mobility at selected public places.
Some of the main points include:
- Around 151,000 people who are self-employed may not be eligible for the Self-employment Income Support Scheme, equivalent to 3% of the 5 million self-employed in the UK
- By ethnicity, Pakistani workers are most likely to be self-employed (24%, compared with 15% of all workers)
- Using Google mobility data, we can see that grocery shopping activity is down by 41% compared with before the outbreak of COVID-19, reversing an initial rise when school closures were announced on 20 March
