ONS Coronavirus (COVID-19) roundup - 21 April 2020

ONS have published data on weekly deaths registrations, including deaths involving COVID-19, and some early estimates of employment in March. Some of the main points include:

  • There were 10,350 deaths involving COVID-19 registered up to 10 April
  • So far there have been more deaths among men than women (6,348 compared with 4,002)
  • Most deaths involving COVID-19 have been among those aged 65 and over (8,998 out of 10,350)
  • According to experimental PAYE estimates, there were 29.1 million people in paid employment in March 2020, down slightly (0.06%) compared with February 2020 but still 0.8% higher than a year earlier
