Please help to save our antibiotics

World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) is celebrated from 18-24 November every year and is an initiative that encourages the responsible use of antibiotics.

Wirral healthcare partners are working collaboratively this year to raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance (this is when bacteria learn how to protect themselves from being killed by antibiotics) and urging those who typically ask for antibiotics to take their doctors advice.

Please view the short video below, in which Dr Diane Atherton, GP and Wirral’s Prescribing Lead for Antimicrobial Resistance, explains more about why antibiotics are such a precious resource, and what you can do to help.
