Progress delivering the Emergency Services Network
16 May 2019
The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is the government’s chosen option to replace the Airwave system, which 107 police, fire and ambulance services in England, Scotland and Wales use for communications between control rooms and the field.
This National Audit Office report finds that the delayed ESN launch is likely to be even later than expected and the government’s already increased forecast costs are highly uncertain. It recommends that the Home Office test its overall programme plan to determine whether the new schedule for launching ESN and shutting down Airwave is achievable.
