Wirral Economic Strategy

Wirral is at a turning point in its development and growth with the development of the Wirral 2026 Plan, Birkenhead 2040 framework and the Local Plan.

Wirral is commencing its recovery from the impacts of the COVID 19 pandemic, while overcoming challenges and creating opportunities following Brexit.

In this critical time for the Borough a new Economic Strategy is needed to ensure that prosperity can be achieved for all.

The Council is consulting on an initial framework document which sets out ideas on the direction of the new Economic Strategy. It has been produced by officers in Wirral Council, with the support of economic consultants Hatch.

It is intentionally not a finished document. It is something that is designed to stimulate debate, ideas and engagement amongst partner organisations, and local residents and businesses. The results of this engagement will be used to develop and finalise the Strategy in Autumn 2021.
